Good Friday & Easter Appeal

I’m looking forward to gathering together on Good Friday 10:45am at 99c High Street, King’s Lynn for our Good Friday service. On Easter Sunday we will be meeting at King’s Lynn Academy 10:45am (Don’t forget to put your clocks forward one hour on Saturday evening!)

Over the Easter Weekend we are having a special appeal to help our friends in Serbia buy a building. Vlada and Sonja lead the Good News Church in Nis, Sonja came and spoke with us last year.

We’d love to help the church in Serbia – we are praying about a building for us and UK prices are 10x Serbia at least! They need a tiny sum in comparison! So we have a great opportunity to make a huge difference to their church.

David Taylor messaged me to say he senses God saying “test me in this” – we’d love to send a big gift to be a big blessing. Here’s a card link to donate. You can transfer to The Gateway Church Sort Code 40-40-35 Account 21471902, reference Serbia Building.

Here’s some more information about what they are looking to do…

The building is very much connected to the current Church plot and has been vacant for 15-20 years (with probate queries) and something which the Church has been praying for many years for God to make available. Two weeks ago we heard that two macedonian brothers that own the building have now finished the paperwork and are in a position to sell. They have been approached by people who want to purchase the building but amazingly have said that they ideally would like to sell to us (Incredible!). This building is hugely significant for the life of the Church for 3 main reasons:

1. If a developer gets hold of the property/land they can cause serious problems for us as a Church (complaints about noise, people coming and going, the type of Church we are) and with the right contacts in Serbia could ultimately have us kicked out/seriously impact the work we are able to do – We need to get hold of the building to protect our future

2. Our outreach is growing and there is more we want to do to serve the city. Having an additional building will allow us the extra space we need to grow and develop these ministries, in particular the growth of the work with students and mothers and children. Increased residential accommodation would also help for accommodating interns, emergency short-term accommodation, accommodating visitors from abroad and the possibility of long term rentals to help the Church become more financially self-sufficient.

3. Longer Term future. By acquiring this building, it significantly increases our overall footprint (and there’s actually an additional piece of land to the right which might become available in the future). In the longer term, the extra footprint opens up the opportunity to potentially knock down both buildings and build a new purpose built Church facility, which can host Church, our outreach groups, including the creation of a Food Bank/Community Fridge along with a few apartments above for the areas mentioned before. Buying this building is a significant Step one in this process.

After taking some professional advice, we believe the building can be purchased for as little as £60,000-£70,000 and we would need to make an offer in the next 2-3 weeks to secure it.

The Church has around £10,000 in the bank, so we need to raise an additional £50,000-£60,000 to secure the building and I’d like to ask if as a Church you would be able to financially support us in some way?
