My favourite prayer
The gospel is incredible. It is the manifold, or multi-coloured, wisdom of God to be made known everywhere on heaven and earth. As Paul explains it, you can tell he is blown away by it and wants to pray and praise God. He bows the knee, putting down his pen to talk to his Father God. The Father from whom every family is named!
He prays that God would give from riches of glory – God’s riches are inexhaustible, they won’t run out!
Paul wants the Lord to strengthen us with the power of the Spirit in our inner being. When our inner beings are strengthened by the power of the Spirit, then Christ dwells in our hearts through faith.
When that happens we will being rooted and grounded in love and that will give us strength to comprehend with all the other saints (that’s you and me – we are all saints) how much God loves us. What roots and grounds us in our faith is God’s love. The enormity of His love – it’s high, it’s deep, it’s wide and it’s broad. God’s love surpasses knowledge. It will fill us with all the fullness of God.
God is able to so much more than we think he can or dare to ask! And that is according to the power at work in us, meaning that will do those things using us.
All glory to Him!
