31st Dec, 2017 Day 365

2Tim 3:16

31st Dec, 2017 Day 365

17

Reading the Bible every day is really good for you!
Here’s some reasons why…

1) Calming Down
Every morning as you roll out of bed, as C. S. Lewis put it in Mere Christianity, “all your wishes and hopes for the day rush at you like wild animals.” Starting teh day with some scripture will make sure you start the day with God’s peace, God’s calm and centred on Jesus. As Dane Ortlund puts it “The promises of Scripture are like an asthmatic’s inhaler, enabling us to slow down and take a deep breath.”

2) Fuelling up
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day they say. It fuels you physically for the day. Reading the Bible helps top up your spiritual tank alongside some prayer and speaking in tongues. I try to start my day with speaking in tongues, reading the Bible and then some prayer, giving thanks and making requests of the Lord.

3) Getting wise.
There’s a lot of self-help nonsense out there on the bookshelves and the internet. If self could help Jesus would have given us a Waterstones gift card and a Latte. Our natural self is prone to foolishness. The scriptures contain all the wisdom we need to get wise and live wise.

So join us on an adventure in 2018 as we go through the New Testament in a year – it should hit your email inboxes and smartphone notifications at 6am every day!
Blessings
