Naaman’s healing

7th Apr, 2020 Day 98

A young Israelite girl was captured by the Syrians. She loved the Lord God and when her master, Naaman, was struck down with leprosy she said, “If only my master were with the prophet in Samaria for he would heal him of his leprosy!”

This young girl had faith in her God and she was prepared to speak out. Are we prepared to speak out in these days? We know a God who can heal and restore those who are bound in some way due to sin, not necessarily through any fault of their own. And He can heal us of all our sicknesses and diseases.

Naaman struggled to do what the prophet said, which was God’s particular word to him. The word was, “Wash and be clean.” God told Him to dip seven times in the River Jordan!

Although Naaman wanted to be healed, he wanted the healing to come on his own terms, not God’s. His pride got in the way. He thought he was a special case; he should have special treatment. Not so with God! He is no respecter of persons. We all have to come the same way. We all have to ‘wash and be clean’. How do we do this? By receiving His Word humbly and doing what He says.

Naaman eventually obeyed and his flesh was restored ‘like that of a little child’. He was clean! His response? ‘Indeed now I know that there is no God in all the earth, except in Israel’!

The young Israelite girl had faith in her God and in His power to heal and she pointed her master to Him. God is the only One who can rescue us from the dilemmas we face, including the corona virus. We need to come to Him and be willing to do what He says, however strange or difficult it may sound.

In 2 Chronicles 7:14 God says, ‘If my people who are called by My Name, will humble themselves and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land’.

Are we willing to do this? It is, I believe, the Word of the Lord to us in these days. Let us be humble and cry out to Him for the healing of our nation.
